With just nine chalets, Sossusvlei Camp is small, intimate and exclusive. Luxury chalets are fitted with every amenity, including large glass fold-back windows offering views of desert, en-suite shower, private plunge pool, fans, mosquito nets, complimentary toiletries and safe. Camp facilities are no less opulent, with a large wrap-around veranda, pub, dining area, curio shop, star gazing platform, open air dining deck, laundry and housekeeping service available.
The area is home to an array of wildlife, with game such as ostrich, springbok, gemsbok, spotted hyaena and occasionally brown hyaena, bat-eared fox, black-backed jackal, porcupine, Cape fox and aardwolf to be seen. The spectacular dunes of the area include the famous Big Daddy or Dune 45, and are breathtaking in their size and colour. Lakes that form in rainy season mirror these dunes, giving the area its name Sossusvlei, which means 'the gathering place of water' in the local Nama language.
