About Sesriem

Accommodations in this region offer the ideal base from which to explore the canyon and surrounds, with a host of facilities and features on offer. Experience the ultimate desert adventure with a host of activities and sights, including dune boarding, hikes, nature walks, bird watching and many more – only at Sesriem.

The towering dunes of Sossusvlei surround the canyon, creating a quite spectacular backdrop that boggles the mind. The scenery and views are breathtaking, and photographers will not be disappointed at the exceptional photo opportunities that abound.

The canyon supports a wide diversity of desert-adapted creatures, including lizards, beetles, birds, jackals and other species. Despite the parched land, these creatures continue to thrive, while plant life is few and far between – except around water sources. The sheer size and formidable nature of the towering dunes surrounding the canyon, and the strange sight of pools within this dry and desert-filled area make up for the lack of greenery however, and with so much to take in, guests are sure to be mesmerised for hours on end.
