About Popa Falls

Within the Popa Game Park you may not see much game aside from the obligatory crocodile and hippo, birdlife is staggeringly diverse and abundant, with large numbers of endemic and migratory species to be seen within the park.

Outside this tiny park, and within the greater Caprivi area, game is prolific however, with elephant, hippo, buffalo, crocodile, red lechwe, reedbuck, roan and sable antelope, and the elusive Sitatunga antelope to be seen during a game drive or safari.

The area is also a key habitat for the broadhead catfish and the ocellated spinyeel – two very rare species of fish that can be found in the waters of Popa Falls. Vegetation is lush and diverse, with riverine forests, a broad flood plain as well as magnificent baobabs comprising most of the area’s landscape. With such a diversity of natural wonder, it is no surprise that activities are mostly outdoor ones. Experience the wonders of the Popa Falls, and see why this area is known for its beauty and solitude – restoring the senses and calming the soul.
