About Palmwag

Bird watching is also a popular pastime – so be sure to bring binoculars. Guests seeking to explore the area can venture out to nearby attractions; these include Etosha Pans, Etendeka Mountains and Skeleton Coast Park. A camera is also essential in order to capture the staggering views and spectacular wildlife that you are sure to encounter during your adventure in beautiful Palmwag.

Etosha National Park and the Skeleton Coast also has other game such as desert adapted elephant, Hartman's Mountain Zebra, giraffe, oryx, springbok and kudu, plus large numbers of predators including lions, cheetah, leopard, brown and spotted hyena. Birdlife is also prolific, with many endemic species to be spotted.

Palmwag and surrounding Damaraland is known for its stark desert beauty. Early morning mists drift inland towards the canyons, created by the clash between the icy Atlantic Ocean and the warm desert air of the Skeleton Coast. This mist provides sustenance to the thirsty flora and fauna of the region, and rare succulent plants abound in this harsh countryside. The ancient and unusual Welwitschia succulent plants dot the plains in front of the camp - offering rare and stunning contrasts against the endless expanses of desert.
