About Ongava Game Reserve

Experience the beauty and solitude of Ongava Reserve, deep in the heart of Etosha. An abundance of game can be spotted across this reserve, with regular sightings of lion, eland, Hartmann's mountain zebra, black-faced impala and various other antelope species to be seen. The highly endangered Black and White rhino can both be seen in this reserve too; one of the only reserves in Southern Africa where this occurs.

This is a fantastic experience, and Ongava is the only reserve where this is possible due to Etosha gates closing before dusk.Flamingos in their thousands can be seen taking flight over the salt pans of Etosha, creating a blur of pink as they fill the sky. A number of other waders can also be spotted. Bare-cheeked Babbler, Violet Wood-Hoopoe, Carp's Tit and Red-necked Falcon are a rare treat to see, while other species such as the Sociable Weaver and its enormous communal nests, the miniature Pygmy Falcon and the brilliantly coloured Crimson-breasted Shrike are more common.
