Namibia Holiday Packages

Namibia is a place of calm, uncluttered beauty. It has one of the world's lowest population densities and is one of the last remaining intact areas of the planet. There is so much to see and it is definitely worthy of a holiday! Whether it is the massive sand monoliths of Sesriem, the extraordinary rock formations of Damaraland or the Skeleton Coast, Namibia is a dream for those in search of wilderness and adventure.

There are various desert safari expeditions and vast landscapes to enjoy but Namibia is not all desert; there is the coastal resort of Swakopmund (now competing with Victoria Falls and Cape Town as the adventure capital of Africa) with quad biking, sand boarding, parachuting, shark fishing, scenic flights and balloon trips.

WINDHOEK

“Windy Corner” as it was named by Jan Akfrikaner in 1800, is the capital of Namibia and its most developed city. It is a relatively small city with approximately two hundred thousand inhabitants. It is a clean city home to and characterised by interesting German architecture. A couple of nights stay is recommended to explore this amazing city and surrounding areas. Enjoy safaris, go horseback riding and camping, try out some game meat, experience true township living, explore religious sites, picnic in the botanical gardens, and much more!

SOSSUSVLEI

There is so much to explore in Sossusvlei! From remarkable museums and shops and top restaurants to stunning architecture. It is situated in the Namib Naukluft National Park and is one of Namibia’s premier holiday destinations. It boasts some of the highest dunes in the world and is probably one of the most exciting destinations for photographers. There are various attractions to explore and many activities to take pleasure in; see wild game and a variety of birds, visit the ‘Deadvlei’ for amazing photo opportunities, with such overwhelming natural beauty a visit to Sossusvlei will never be forgotten.

SWAKOPMUND

Swakopmund, is Namibia’s premier holiday resort and everyone wants to be there during the December holidays as the cool Namibian coast offers relief from the intense heat of the interior. It has also become the country’s leading adrenaline destination, with a wide range of activities to suit all ages and (most) egos with adventure activities such as sand boarding, quad biking, dune carting, parachuting, hot air ballooning, shark fishing, deep sea fishing and beach angling to name but a few! If recreation is what you are looking for, Swakopmund is the holiday destination for you!

DAMARALAND

One of the most scenic areas in Namibia, Damaraland is a vast, wild, ruggedly beautiful region. It contains prehistoric water courses with wide open plains and grassland, gigantic granite koppies and deep gorges. Further west, the geography of the area changes dramatically and is home to desert-adapted elephant, black rhino, giraffe, ostrich and springbok. These animals have adapted their lifestyles to survive the harshness of the sun-blistered, almost waterless desert spaces. Highlights of the area include the Brandberg - Namibia's highest mountain and home to the famous 'White Lady' Bushman Painting,

SKELETON COAST

A greater contrast is difficult to imagine – a desert alongside an ocean. This meeting of opposites occurs at Namibia’s northern seaboard; the edge of the Namib Desert pushes a sea of hot sand into the South Atlantic. Skeleton Coast got its name from the many skeletons of shipwrecks scattered in the area, even the weather is sinister here, as the harsh sun is rivalled by the chilly sea breezes and dense, eerie fog that blows in across the cold Benguela current.  There are camps and safari lodges in the area that offer remote and educational experiences as well as some insight into the customs of the local Himba tribe.

ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

One of Southern Africa’s finest and most important Game Reserves, Etosha National Park is also the third largest in Africa. It is centred on a huge saltpan and during the dry season, which is most of the time, its water holes attract game and predators of various sizes and forms the main attraction for visitors coming to have a look! It was declared a National Park in 1907 and covering an area of 22 270 square km, it is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one species of fish. Etosha National Park offers excellent game viewing as well as excellent bird watching.
