Medical Services

Medical services in Namibia are of a very high standard, but availability is restricted. Windhoek has a small number of private medical hospitals and clinics. All practices are capable of providing emergency care and performing many routine procedures. Facilities outside the capital vary widely. Several large towns have well-equipped facilities similar to those available in Windhoek.

Special Health Precautions

Malaria is prevalent only in the north of the Namibia. Malaria prophylaxis is not required in Windhoek, but is suggested for travel to the north. Chances of attaining malaria are rare in the north, but still possible.

Other health precautions are safe food and water precautions, also insect bite protection.

Medical services

Medical services in Namibia are of a very high standard. The availability of most services is restricted to the main towns though.  Emergencies and accidents that occur in remote areas do generally attract a high cost. Your accommodation should be able to organize these services on your behalf when requested and if needed.
