Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 - CAÑON HOUSE, FISH RIVER CANYON
The tour begins at Cañon House in Gondwana Cañon Park at the Fish River Canyon where you will arrive at your own arrangement (transfers from Windhoek can be arranged at extra cost). After a day at leisure, you will learn how the equipment works and be briefed on the mule transport and plans. (D)

DAY 2 - FLAMINGO BAY CAMP, FISH RIVER
After breakfast you will load your gear onto your mule and set off at around 07:00. Leaving the gorge of the seasonal Gaap River on zebra paths, you will clamber up to plateaus and cross them, stopping to admire the views along the way. At lunchtime you will stop for a picnic, before you continue down an escarpment to finally arrive at the Fish River, where the first camp is located. You will camp outdoors tonight, under the stars. DAY 3 - ECHO POOLS CAMP, FISH RIVER
This morning you can enjoy breakfast outside, before exploring the rock art in this area. The trek then continues upstream along the Fish River. At lunchtime, the group will enjoy a picnic in a shaded spot. The trek then continues, breaking for a quick swim or to fish for Fish River carp. In the afternoon you will arrive at Echo Pools Camp in time for sundowners before camping for the night. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 - HORSE SHOE CANYON CAMP, HORSE SHOE CANYON
Today after breakfast, the toughest part of the trek begins. You will hike up a steep plateau, which will offer a worthwhile 360 degree panoramic view across the canyon. At lunch you will enjoy a picnic in the shade, and then continue the trek to reach a waterfall. Later you will reach camp where you can relax for the evening. (B,L,D)

DAY 5 - CAÑON LODGE, FISH RIVER CANYON
After breakfast today you will take a road trip that takes you on a two-hour drive through the canyon scenery. You will then arrive at Cañon Lodge, where you tour will either end or you will have a chance to relax, depending on your booking. Those that choose to extend there tour will overnight here. (B,L,D)

DAY 6 - CAÑON LODGE, FISH RIVER CANYON
Today is spent relaxing and unwinding. You will have a range of activities to choose from, including scenic nature drives, horseback riding or scenic walking trails. After dinner, you will overnight here again. (B,L,D)

DAY 7 - WINDHOEK
After breakfast today it is time to return back to Windhoek by vehicle, where the tour comes to an end.
